It's an anachronism stereotype. Women shaving their body hair was usual in the US first, and exported into Europe in the early 1980ies.
Today you will find lady shavers in every supermarket in France, Germany, Spain, Poland, Italy and all other European countries. And you will hardly see anyone with hair there in a public swimming pool or on a beach. But you have to remember that US-American soldiers have been stationed throughout Europe since the 1950ies. And they have probably told people at home that women in France don't shave.
Brits and Americans have been brainwashed (probably by Proctor and Gamble) into thinking that underarm or leg hair on a woman is not just unappealing, but downright disgusting. Body hair for women in general is not acceptable in North America and it's about time people did some thinking for themselves, rather than live the lifestyle advertisers are always advocating. I always found Europeans to be much less uptight about stuff like this.
When I visited Scandinavia in 1979 most women i saw didn't shave. It really wasn't bad since most women were blonde and not particularity hairy. There were a few hirsute dark haired women who I admit offended my American sensibilities.
do you really believe that? guys and girls from all over the world are all the same human. the only difference between us is looks, voices and launge other wise we're all the same (soz about the spelling)
I'm not sure but I think that's culturism lol... if that's even a word. French ppl rock! Im sure there are plenty of English, Japanese, and African women who dont shave their armpits. Think Globally man.
I've never heard that, but tons of girls don't shave, not just french ones. I don't really think it makes a difference, like you're born with hair so if you like it, keep it.
Lol Ive never heard that before.
