Why can't I sleep at night?

I’ve just turned 16 and im not sleeping. my mother says its because im overweight but I think that comes from sleep deprivation it doesnt actually cause it. I really want to know why I’m not sleeping. Like, ill go to bed at 12 and wake up at 4:30 and then I’ll have trouble gettting back to sleep if that happpens at all, I really want to atleast get an idea of whats wrong and why, my loss of sleep causes me to sleep in the day, but the pattern started with no sleep, not sleep during the day. I’d really appreciate an answer. thankyou so much in advance

the best advice I have as a 14 year old is that do something that you enjoy doing. Become really relaxed and calm then listen to ballet music or something soft and gentle and put it on repeat. I cant grantee this will make you fall asleep but it will make you relaxed. And the reason I think your not sleeping is because hey its summer you have all this energy and dont know what to do with it so it just sits there in your body. try letting that energy out somewhere because during school you usually let it out then so. this is the best I can do hope this helps. ^_^

It’s probably not because you’re overweight, (if you even are), but here are some possibilities..

  1. Do you eat spicy foods a few hours before you go to bed?

  2. Do you have trouble actually GETTING to sleep?

  3. Do/Did you recently sleep mostly during the day and not at all during the night?

  4. — Your body has a terrible time sleeping when you have spicy foods in your stomach, because your body has a harder time digesting that. Try not to eat that within a few hours after you go to bed.

  5. — You may have insomnia, which is a sleeping disorder that my brother and I have, it’s terrible just sitting there, waiting and waiting to fall asleep, then waking up a few hours earlier. Talk to your doctor if this is the case.

3.— If so, your sleep track is probably off-track, the only thing you can really do is try to get it back on track, which is hard.

You should probably talk to your doctor about this instead of just asking people on funadvice, because your doctor knows you better and ca help you lots better than random strangers.

Hope I helped!! — Liberty
