Do teenagers need more sleep than adults? What about older people? My great grandma gets up super early every morning--is it healthy?

From my understanding, the people who need the most sleep are infants and toddlers (14-18 hours per day!).
As you grow up into being a teenager and through adulthood 7-8 hours are the recommended amount.
However, I've noticed that as people age, they do tend to sleep less and less. My grandmother is up at 5am too...I think it's normal :)
