Why are people in the middle east all of a sudden fighting for freedom at the same time?

I know why they are but its weird that they are all doing it at the same time

Answer #1

Well they see that it can happen in Egypt so they try in their country because they have nothing to lose. It isn’t just the middle east though! In China this foreign reporter was beaten severely. He got punched to the ground and kicked in the face many times. BBc teams were arrested and German TV was arrested. My dad’s a journalist and I’m glad he is okay…

Answer #2

Wow I’m glad he is ok to :-)

Answer #3

Haha! Thanx ya he went to the protests yesterday! And did you know if you type in Jasmine they will not let your SMS, email etc go through??there is a taboo on it!

Answer #4

i know one female reporter was sexually assaulted in egypt during celebrations, some soilders and women saved her

Answer #5

They have been living under pressure of the rezim. But no country was brave enough to fight their government for some reasons. When came out one, they all follow.

Answer #6

im taking it as simple as this. Monkey see Monkey do.

Answer #7

It was because food prices increased in the entire North-Africa region all due to the economy crisis. A lot of people were sick of it all anyways, since along time. But the food prices were the “last straw to break the camels back”. And then the Tunisians started it and really managed to chase their dictator Mr Ben Ali out of the Country. So the Egyptians decided that they can also make it and chased off Mr. Mubarak. Now of course, all the other peoples who are unhappy with their regimes see that it actually does work: You can get rid of a government you hate if only you are many people and you are persistent and do not go home on a few nice speeches on TV.

So now they all try.

I just wish that they all succeed to form a better future for their kids - and our kids - to live in. Freedom to the world!!!

Answer #8

Yes, because now they see all is possible.

Answer #9

Your obviously an extremely intelligent person, sheep, you have provided me with great advice before. I just have this feeling things are going to break out of control. I don’t know why… Like the Egyptian army is gna turn on the people once they are powerful and influenced enough things will all go to hell all over northern Africa!

Answer #10

Thanks for the compliments. :-) … Things are definitely going to hell in Lybia at the moment. Mr. Gaddafi is sitting in a burrow and shooting at his own people. My Government is sending military machines to bring our citizens as well as citizens of our allies out of Lybia. … but then remember: it took the French, the first democracy in modern times, decades to get from their “Grande Revolution” 1789 to a stable, modern democratic state. With a lot of war, blood and violence in between. Yet no one in France would ever want to turn back time and return to absolute monarchy. …. Yes, things are going to break out of control. But sadly, they have to. No dictator, no King and no evil regime will actually just give up and let the people have their way.

Answer #11

Well almost none. The GDR just gave up and dissolved. But then there was nobody in there who thought it worthwhile to fend for the status quo.

Answer #12

Very true, sheep! But do you really think it will take decades to stabilize??I mean in the 1700s they didn’t have nuclear weapons. What if the Libyans(very doubtful) or some other regime had some nuclear weapons and shot them somewhere killing thousands and making species go extinct and a lot of hell breaks loose from that. I know its far-fetched but any crazy bloodthirsty regimes with nuclear weapons is very dangerous.

Answer #13

All of us who live in the United States know what it is like to be free. We have no idea what other people go through in other countries where there are dictators and tyrants. Things may be crazy for awhile, but sometimes that is what must happen for change. Of course world leaders are not going to like it if control is taken out of their hands, but they shouldn’t get by with treating people the way that they do. I really think most of us have no idea what’s going on over there. How can we? The most important things we consider are gas prices and who wins at the Oscars.

Answer #14

Very good point. I bet 805 of the people on FA haven’t ever tasted desperate. But I know in ways how it is for your privacy to be invaded or privileges taken away for no reason. I have a great life but I’ve been to so many different places and I’ve been invited to homes of people in the countryside of China, India, Cambodia, Philippines and seen how these people have lived. I can see why some people choose to fight for the right to get more privileges. But many are very happy. I’ve traveled to many places and really I’ve realized how much I want to help these people but when war or riots break out like that it doesn’t exactly encourage you to go into those countries…

Answer #15

I agree

Answer #16

with hu her or me?

Answer #17

the problem is, slashdown, in a country with an evil leadership, you can be safe and happy as long as you conform and do not happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you make a mistake, just one, you’re screwed. And your family too….

So I totally support people who want to get rid of an evil government. Of course, i’s great if change comes peacefully. But if that doesn’t work, I’d prefer violent change over everlasting oppression….. I think that we, who live in the safe places in the world, need to support the people who seek freedom. And we also need to help them get back to safe and stable later on. You should not travel to dangerous places. But we can make sure our own governments are on the right side.

Answer #18

I have helped out some people but I’m just a kid now. You make a great point but I would love to help out any of those countries. When I grow up a bit more and see the world in a different way I hope I can help people out…

Answer #19

Under pressure monkey :D

Answer #20

The idea and pursuit of freedom is in their heads, because of Egypt.

Answer #21

you can name it PROTEST FLU

Answer #22

Well, you can’t do a lot from the distance. But you can contact people on the Internet - at least if you share a language - and tell them how you feel for them. Morale support is better than no support.

Answer #23

fan, you remind me of the pig Napoleon’s famous line in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”:

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

Answer #24

Yes but everything is shut down all over there!!
