The scandal reached to the top levels of American government, and the attempted cover-up of the break-in would ultimately lead to Nixon’s dramatic resignation on August 9, 1974.

sort of a series of political scandals during Nixons presidency— it didnt result in Nixons resignation just disgust from his voters in the republican party. The deomocrats gained 5 seats in the senate and like around 40 something in the house…
