Does anybody know a good remedy to make my throat feel better after having my tonsils taken out 9 days ago?

Answer #1

A little liquid Tylenol (chances are, it hurts to swallow pills), lots of cooling liquids, popsicles, ice cream, and believe it or not, chewing gum often helps ease the pain.

Thank you

Ohh that must be horrible! (And to think I’ve been complaining about a sore throat!) I hope it gets better/less painful! =(

When I got mine taken out, eating or drinking cold or slightly chilled things gave me relief. Refrigerated jello is amazing. Popsicles are awesome, too. If you need a cheap and cold drink, shove a bottle of water in the freezer for a few hours. Take it out, shake it, and it should be nice and slushy.

When it comes to pain killers, my surgeon prescribed me tylenol with codeine. I didn’t find it that helpful, though.. I just went with the cold, soft foods and drinks. No carbonation. Low acid. That does wonders.

Answer #6

also you can gargle with salt water and that seems to help. Also you can drink herbal tea, green tea is great.

Answer #7

I had my tonsils out when I was little and the hospital gave ice cream an popcicles to eat to help sooth my throat. I’m sorry you are in pain, but look on the bright side now you have a great excuse to eat lots of ice cream! : )
