People who like John Mccain

Why? He’s another puppet like George W Bush. He’s going to bring this country more down hill than we are

Answer #1

Well, I seem to be in the awkward position of defending John McCain. I don’t like the guy and am not voting for him, so I won’t do it.

But I will say that it should be no great shock that McCain has “sold his soul” in the politics business. Obama’s done it too. Anybody who is actively seeking to be the most powerful person in the world has to.

I don’t think McCain will be a great president, but I also don’t think he’ll be four more years of Bush. A great deal will also depend on which party holds the majority in Congress. Bush had a Republican Congress that was in lock step with him, and two years of spineless Democrats. McCain might be dealing with something different, if he’s elected.

Also, the Pentagon has been working on an exit strategy from Iraq since 2005. Very few of the proposals they or any military officer has talked about happens faster than 18-24 months. Even Obama has admitted a complete withdrawal from the country is not possible.

Answer #2

While I don’t plan to vote for him, McCain is no puppet and he is no George W. Bush. Bush was clearly the puppet of Cheney and Rumsfeld. Much of what he did, they pushed him for (especially the Iraq war). Also, Bush is not very experienced or well educated on many things, and his policies show it.

McCain is different. He chose Palin obviously to bring in the religious right nutjobs, yes. But I think his actual cabinet would be much more moderate, and I sincerely doubt he would be their puppet, or the puppet of his party. Also, in foreign affairs and diplomacy alone, McCain is far more experienced, knowledgeable, and competent than Bush. He is well liked and respected by many Democrats. So in a number of ways, I see McCain as being a very different president than Bush.

He probably will continue the war in the Middle East, but then again, I so will Obama, to some extent.

“Well Jimahl, where do you get your information ? “

I get my information from lots of places, and usually research things before giving any creedance to it.

“I don’t think anyone could make McCain pick Palin if he didn’t want to.”

Well then you would be wrong.

It was all over the news. That is unless you only watch FIXED News.

“McCain is his own man and went against Bush’s policies several times.”

Voting with over 90% of the time is not being his own man. Giving up on every “maverick” stance he ever took so he could win the nomination is not being his own man. Being told he can’t pick the VP he wants is not being his own man.

“I think he is a sincere man who will try to straighten this country out.”

And how is an out-of-touch man, who doesn’t even know how to send an email, going to straighten things out in todays world? Any sincerity he once had, is long gone now.

“Obama is a Novice who hasn’t a clue. He talks very well with a prompter, but off the cuff like the ‘Saddleback’ interview with Rick Warren he lost big time…”

I am not sure what you are talking about. Obama did fine in that interview. McCain did well too, but he also “cheated”. They were both being asked the same questions, and Obama went first. McCain was not supposed to be able to hear Obama’s interview. He was supposed to be in a “cone of silence”. His staff even lied saying that McCain was stuck in traffic while Obama was being interviewed. But he wasn’t. He was in the arena, and heard the whole interview, so he knew the questions before he was even asked. Maybe that is why he did so well.

Obama is far from a novice. He is an extremely intelligent and thoughtful person. McCain is a “C” studen at best. We just had eight years of that, and we don’t need anymore of it. You do know that McCain finished 594th out of 599 in his graduationg class from annapolis? Obama graduated from Harvard Law school Magna Cum Laude, and was elected president of the Harvard Law Review. I think he has a lot more than a “clue”. Certainly much more than McSame.

Answer #4

Yes, McCain went against Bush 10% of the time (in his own words… he sided with the president 90% of the time…) Yup def makes him his own man, I mean a whole 10%!

Answer #5

I have no delusions that Obama will be able to do everything he says he wants to. No candidate ever can. But if we have 60 dems in the senate, he can get an awful lot done. If not, we will have gridlock.

Answer #6

True, jimahl. However, Obama has made many promises and has risen the level of expectation for his presidency to the point where it could cost him dearly if he doesn’t deliver. Obama desperately needs a solid Democratic majority in both houses if he stands any chance of being the president he says he will.

Answer #7

I agree with jimahl on this one. McCain 2000 - mostly maverick McCain 2008 - mostly McBush with Sarah Cheney, oops Falwell, oops Palin as running mate.

I think that McCain sold his independent soul to win the nomination, now all that remains is an old man, desperate for a listing on the presidential roll call.

Answer #8

McSame is only going to be a continuation of Bush policies. The same policies that have put us in the dire position we are in now. We need real change, and McCain/Palin are to beholden to the DC powerbrokers to be able to do anything diiffernt.

Answer #9

agreed! I wrote an essay on how much he sucks last week haha, it was an opinionated essay and a new teacher so I didnt really care haha (:

RG, you are right that even Obama has “sold his soul” a little. Particularly the FISA vote. But there is a matter of degree here. There isn’t one single “maverick” stance that McCoot had taken in the past that he hasn’t completely reversed himself on today. While Obama has tacked a bit to the center, as all candidates do in the general election, he has not completely given up his stance on the core issues.

Answer #13

RG, I think any independent streak McCoot had was sold to the devil for the nomination. And his pick of Palin only proves that further. She was not his choice, she was the choice of the right wing, and they made him pick her. That doesn’t sound very independent to me.

I am not so optomistic that he would pick many moderates for his cabinet.

I also think if Obama wins, the first thing he will do will be to have the pentagon develop an exit strategy for Iraq. He knows it is necessay for the recovery of our economy.

Answer #14

McCain’s a mixed bag for me. He plans to cut taxes, as does Obama, but I judge McCain more likely to actually do it. On the other hand, I think he’s more inclined to expand war in the middle east than to cut back on it.

If he does push through a tax cut plan, but does not cut back on spending, then the dollar will start falling again and the economic misery we have right now, which was caused by Bush’s tax cut + more spending policies, will just get worse.

But he’s also more of a religious whackjob than Obama, and has picked a running mate who’s even more of a religious psycho than he is. I actually like Palin other than her religious delusions. I find the idea of the most powerful people on earth sincerely believing in a magic old man in the sky to be pretty scary.

Answer #15

Well, maybe McCain thinks 10% makes him a maverick, just like many men think that 6’’ = 1’
