Is god real?

Do you think god is real? A lot of people only beleive because they think if they don’t then they will be sent to hell. They are scared into beleiveing… How can I make my belief in god stronger? Why do you think he is real? Their is no proof

Nothing finite can be infinite (eternal). Since the universe is made of finite things (matter, time, space), it therefor must be created by something without time (timeless), thus making it eternal. If it is eternal, it must be infinite, and if its the Creator, it must be God.

The universe changes, and time is the measure of change. How many changes have happened before right now? If you claim an infinite number of changes (which is impossible because you can not have an infinite amount of finite things), it is a logically impossible to conclude we could ever have reached this moment in time. In a world of cause and effect (which we live in), there can not be an infinite regress (an infinite amount of cause and effect reactions to get to a certain cause).

Allow me to rephrase. Imagine that the Earth orbits the sun every 365 days (it does). Now, on Mars, a year is much longer than an Earth year, being 687 Earth days (basically double). So, for every 2 years of Mars, Earth has circled the sun approximately 4 times. Now, imagine that this has been going on for eternity. By your logic, they would both have circled the sun the exact same amount of times, because its been going on forever (this is clearly impossible). This shows the impossibility of an infinite regress, whereby there could not have been an infinite amount of (x) before right now, in a finite universe based on time.

Now, back to God. God exists outside of time, in Eternity. God created time, and time is irrelevant to Him. God is Eternal, not created. Firstly, you have 2 choices; either everything came from nothing (which is impossible), or something always existed and created us. You have no other choice. Take a moment to think about that, remembering that it can not exist in time, that would be impossible. Time can not be eternal.

This thing that always existed would be considered Eternal, having transcended time, space, and matter, being everlasting, having always existed. If you argue this is impossible, I would argue the contrary; it is impossible for this Eternal ‘thing’ to not exist, because the alternative is that nothing existed, which could only produce nothing. So, something always existed, and is therefor Eternal.

Now, for something to be Eternal, it can not consist of time, because time must have had a beginning. We exist in a universe of causality, so an infinite regress is impossible; there could not have been an infinite amount of time before right now, because we never would have reached this moment in time. That means time had a beginning, and whatever created time exists without time, beyond time, in timelessness; Eternity.

So, this Eternal Creator, created time, and the universe. This Eternal Creator clearly is extremely powerful, because the energy of the trillions of stars in the known universe were created by this Creator. And obviously, the Creator is extremely intelligent, having created an intelligent being such as mankind and a world in which to populate with it.

Which God? Subconsciously I believe in Luna I don’t ask any one to understand that remark, kind of a long explanation I don’t feel like explaining

The Northern Light could also be explained through other Gods Aurora is the Roman goddess of the dawn and Boreas is the Greek name for north wind. The same effect occurs in the south pole, however here it is called Aurora Australis. Australis is Latin for “of the south”. Hence the name Arura Boreas Though through science it has something to do with the magnetic fields

& Todaly, I hate to disagree with yu, but I”ve seen it done. people will turn to bibiical religions in a just-in-case since. They don’t know what to believe in so they go to the bible so they wont go to hell just in case it exiest though they really aren’t devot. Others just out of sear fear of eternal torture. It’s funny how plp think that those who are not of the biblical religions fear him when it’s just the opposite. How can we fear something we do not believe? Even the slightest hint of fear would show some belief in the bibical god, hence their theory making no since. & if we did fear him then I believe we’ld be another zombie in the mainstream creed. Only those who do not fear can break away & become alive. Though some people into the bible because they were raised that way or of their own free acord.

It’s not just one god in the history of man Here’s a question, who says there’s not more than one if there is? What makes you think that only one came about? Please don’t say the bible that’s not actually proof, it was written by man. How we got here, well the substance required four life was found on a comment so assuming by other wordily sources Some people believe Aliens molded us, seems just as plausible as any god story if not more in the end people can do all the preaching they want toll they’re dead of lack of breath but it’s not going to change what you feel, it might get you p*ssed or something, but it’s not going to change your general thoughts or beliefs. Only through self enlightenment can you discover your on truth & realize what you believe to be true. Good Luck

I am persuaded that God exists (and I have some specific ideas about the nature of God). Many of the participants on this site will tell you that believing something doesn’t make it true, but of course that’s not what I am claiming. I have decided that there is sufficient evidence for the existence of God that I am willing to act on that assumption…it’s called faith. If it could be “proven” it wouldn’t be faith.

Answer #4

I’ve said this before. Just by looking at the aurora borealis or the mountains in China, you can see that God exists. There is no way to explain the complexities of life otherwise. People are not driven by fear anymore. Back before the years of enlightenment, there were not other ways to explain the reasoning behind natural disasters or the unknown. That is why puritans feared God. That is why Catholics used fear as a main reason to revert to Christianity. now we have scientific reason to support natural phenomena. I’m not saying that it’s not still God’s doing, but most people no longer convert because of fear from God’s wrath. Fear for going to hell is a good reason however. We must admit that everything man does is in his own self-interest. However, even if there wasn’t a threat of hell looming over me, I would still choose to believe in God. It all depends on your personal relationship with him when answering this question.

Answer #5

I belive god is real but not the one protrayed in the bible. Im not christian im wiccan. Generaly we belive in many Gods and Goddess, but I tend to think in a single unified being. Wiccans would call it the ALL.

I agree that fear of hell is not a good reason to belive. thats not from the heart.

Answer #6

Yawheh did it. his name translated so that people can pronounce it better is Jehovah. that’s why people call themselves Jehovah’s Witnesses but Yawheh and Jehovah means the same thing. In some bilbles his name appears in Psalms 83:18. In others it doesn’t because people thought it was confusing which is why they use the ‘Lord’ instead of Yawheh or Jehovah.

Definitely Real - anyone who has accepted Salvation knows He lives in their heart ! - it’s a life-changing experience - if desired, there’s info on my profile page that can help…Take care !!

Answer #8

I don’t believe in the Christian God. I believe that “God” is merely an energy force, and we give him a gender and a name so we can understand better what “God” is. He is whatever you want him to be, because he is everything. My personal personification of this energy is a twin deity, the Goddess and the God, because I am Wiccan. God isn’t an old guy with a beard sitting at a desk on a cloud going over who’s been good and who’s been bad. (That’s Santa Claus.) But if you believe that the personification of the energy that is Everything is a guy at a desk, twin deities, innumerable amounts of gods, or your cat, then that is who God is. :)

“Just by looking at the aurora borealis or the mountains in China, you can see that God exists. There is no way to explain the complexities of life otherwise.”

Yes, I agree…there is no other explanation for the mountains in China or the Aurora Borealis. God just created it. How he created it, or why, or with what, are silly details best left to skeptics. All we need to know is that God did it. Somehow.

But I need to ask a follow-up question: which god did it? Was it Krishna, the Hindu god? Or was it Yawheh, the Judeo-Christian god? I just want to get it right so I don’t end up in hell. If you could let me know, I’d me much obliged. Thanks!

Answer #10

If you fear going to hell, clearly you already believe at least some of the god myth, so that’s hardly a reason many people would believe in god. I, for one, don’t fear it, because it doesn’t_exist.

“I’ve said this before. Just by looking at the aurora borealis or the mountains in China, you can see that God exists. There is no way to explain the complexities of life otherwise.”

Yes, clearly ions interacting with the upper atmosphere and tectonic activity don’t explain either of these. It must have been god - directly and literally! It’s a good thing he doesn’t get tired of making everything work all the time.

Answer #11

The fear of going to hell does not make people believe, rather, it makes people who already believe afraid to question that belief.

It should be obvious that people who don’t believe hell exists, are not going to be afraid of going there.

There is no credible relevant evidence of any gods, and since we know how the idea evolved out of ancient solar worship, it seems pretty silly to take the idea seriously.
