How can you help someone on a hunger strike stay healthy?

My dad has been on a hunger strike for about 17 days. I’ve tried to convince him to stop it but he’s stubborn. I’m worried about his health. He’s only drinking liquids, he’s basically living outside. He has a tent out there and everything. We currently don’t really have money to take him to the doctor right now? What can I do?[btw he’s 61]

Answer #1

What purpose does he have for doing this? A man his age should know that hunger strikes do not work. He will die before he wins his cause. Enlist some help from family members - if he has brothers or sisters, to talk some sense into him.

Answer #2

Well my dad never had much of a education. I don’t really know how to explain the reason why because I don’t completely understand why or have all the details. But it has something to do with a case that he’s been fighting over like since 2005. He doesn’t have any family like that, just me and his other daughters ans his one son. The already came last week to also talk him out of it. He doesn’t listen.

Answer #3

You may have to call the authorities on this one…they may commit him.

Answer #4

They already came last week and today. They said it was fine aslong ans he didn’t sttempt Sui cide.
