How do you know that your God(s) is the only true or right God(s)?

Do you believe in the existence of other Gods? Alright, simple enough question, for those of you out there who follow a religion, do you acknowledge the existence of any other Gods? What are your thoughts on them? Personally, I am not a religious person. I would consider myself and Atheist with ties to Odinist ideals. I believe in what the Gods represent, not in their actual existence. Thus, I loosely follow the Norse pantheon of Gods. However, the religion also acknowledges the existence of other Gods, however the Norse Gods are considered superior. “Beware the Gods who cannot laugh” There’s a tale behind this, but I won’t waste your time with tales =P So FunAdvice, let’s hear what you have to say on the topic.

Answer #1

I believe in the possibility of any and all gods, but until I have tangible proof, I think there is no god.

Answer #2

I think that is what bothers me about religion - you cant absolutely without a doubt know something that cant be proven, its impossible. Religion is based on faith - faith meaning you believe in something even when presented with no proof. I have no problem with someone saying they believe their God is the only one, thats their beliefs and their entitled to them. I hate hearing that they KNOW. Its impossible and no one KNOWS whats reallly up there or not up there.

Answer #3

thats when faith comes in

Answer #4

This reminds me of a movie I saw when I was like, eight. Some dude kidnapped a little girl and for some reason they were on the topic of God. They were on the roof of a really high building and the guy made the little girl step on the ledge and he was like, “If there’s a god and he loves you, jump and he’ll catch you, right? Or you can take my hand and come back down from ledge. Are you going to jump for someone you can’t see or are you going to take my hand? It’s right here.” Or something close to that, I forget. Damn I wish I knew the name of the movie now. >=[

Answer #5

Did she jump??

Answer #6

I believe there could be a God. But I don’t have a religion and I don’t believe in what the bible says if that makes any sense. I just believe what I want to believe. I just think something had to have created us or has blessed us with the things we have. But I hate it when people try shoving religion down other people’s throats just because they don’t believe. It’s just stupid how some people are with religion. We won’t ever know what’s out there until we’re dead. I just try to have faith anyway. You just never know

Answer #7

You dont really know. Its all in beliefs. Im not completely sure if God exist, but it gives me something/someone to believe in. All my troubles, problems, etc I can ask for help and hope for the best. I say I believe in God…in which case I do, But that doesnt mean that I dont wonder if he is truly there.

Answer #8

I am absolutely certain that there is no god(s). The existence of said being(s) can not be proven in any way shape or form. Faith has nothing to do with proof. Can you think of one other thing in this universe that we all believe in, but there is not a shred of proof that it exists?

Answer #9

wat did she do??

Answer #10

Oh, no. She took his hand and climbed back down.

Answer #11

You don’t, you can’t and you never will be. There is nothing you that will tell you. Its faith. But in my opinion Christianity is bs. If you say something for long enough and state that it is true people will eventually begin to accept it as the truth. Which is the case within Christianity. I also despise the what Christians did to convert people in the past and still do to this day. Religion should have never come to be. So many horrible things have happened because of religion. Especially conflicts between the Abrahamic religions.

Answer #12

i know my God is the only true God out there. every other god is crap. why? bcuz ive seen the effects of Him. i have Him inside me. ive felt Him. yeah, i was raised that way, but its so much more now that im more mature and able to figure things out on my own. think of it as the wind. how do you know the wind is there? can you see it? no. but you see, hear, and feel the effects of the wind. its the same w God. i cant see Him, but i can hear Him, feel Him, and see the effects of Him. the Bible is true, not only bcuz it lines up w history, but also bcuz it applies to my life today, and its been around how long? yeah, and the fact that it still applies…whoa. i personally have talked w God, not just to God. communication is the key in my relationship w Him, and its my faith that keeps me goin on fire for Him. yes, ive questioned the same things, but Christ has been faithful in giving me answers, and i know He always will. thats why i know He’s real, and how i know there is no other God besides Him! :)(:

Answer #13

If you’re going to argue how long something has been around in application to it’s credibility, paganism predates Christianity by far. Also, your comparison of God to the wind is weak and doesn’t make sense at all.

Answer #14

I believe in the Flying Spaghetti monster, he has blessed us all with his noodly appendage. I am convinced of his existence because some homeless man told me of his magical wonderment and gave me promises of an afterlife which will include the following; a personal strip club, a giant beer volcano, and the mp3 track of Sex and Candy by Marcy’s Playground. Now with that in mind, and his poorly crafted FSM bible made out of dirty printer paper, and smeared ink from a discarded trash can pen I found no way of denying or any ability to doubt such an incredible unseen deity, and plus spaghetti is delicious so it must be true. My hope is that you will all be guided to this realization as I was and once again may the FSM bless you with his noodly appendage, RAmen.

Answer #15

Kudos my friend.

Answer #16

thats wen faith comes in

Answer #17

I think there is no ‘right’ god. Humans way overthink this. Think of the simple things and imagine how they were created. Beleive in your own stuff, and don’t worry about the ‘right’ god. Religion causes too much arguments so everyone should just stop trying to get into this. I am christian and nothing on this site’s gonna change that

Answer #18

You just will know.

Answer #19

Indeed, “there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords,’” states the Bible. However, it adds: “There is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are.” (1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) Yes, there is only one true God. But who is he? What is he like? It is important for us to know the answers to these questions. Jesus himself said in prayer to this One: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) There is reason to believe that our eternal welfare depends on knowing the truth about God.

The Bible writer Agur asked: “Who has gathered the wind in the hollow of both hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in a mantle? Who has made all the ends of the earth to rise? What is his name and what the name of his son?” (Proverbs 30:4) In effect, Agur was asking, ‘Do you know the name or family line of any man who has done these things?’ Only God has the power to control natural forces. While the creation provides powerful proof that God exists, it is silent about the name of God. In fact, we could never know God’s name unless God himself revealed it to us. And he has. “I am Jehovah,” says the Creator, “that is my name.” —Isaiah 42:8.

I believe in Jehovah God as the one and only true God
