Is 3 hours sleep worth it?

I have to get up in about 3 hours but i’m not sure if its worth even sleeping. Should I just pull an all nighter or get those few hours sleep?

Answer #1

To me it is. 3 hours can be pretty refreshing after working 20. Just make sure you have an alarm that can awaken you.

Answer #2

Personally I think you should just stay up because waking up is going to kill you. You’ll probably just end up more tired.

Answer #3

no 8 hours of sleep is what you need for your body to detox

Answer #4

I agree with this.

Answer #5

We can’t always get as much sleep as we would like or need. In college during my toughest semesters I got by on 3 hours/night though I did sleep in late on weekends. Not everyone needs 8 hours of sleep; some need more and some need less. Also, not everyone can sleep 8 hours straight. Many people do better with less sleep at night and a mid-day nap. This is the custom in many places. In any case, 3 hours is better than nothing.

Answer #6

I personally would pull an all-nighter. Otherwise, I feel even worse when I wake up. I’m also a really heavy sleeper, so it’s easy for me to sleep through alarms. In situations like this, I normally just stay up and drink lots of caffeine haha.

Answer #7

We sleep in cycles about 90 minutes. It is usually easier to get up when the amount you sleep is a multiple of 90 minutes. It can be hard to wake up from the middle of a cycle. Usually the “feel worse” after waking up is because you are getting up in the wrong part of the sleep cycle. Also, this feeling of extreme fatigue from waking up at the wrong time in the cycle usually goes away once you are fully awake. We are better off sleeping 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, or 9 hours than in-between amounts. The reason short “power naps” work is when we are very tired we go into REM sleep more quickly than usual.

Answer #8

I wouldn’t. It will probably cause you to be so much more tired than if you didn’t get the 3 hours of sleep.
