Why does everyone think anorexics are selfish?

why do people think we are just being selfish and vain? why do people think we are ignorant? why do people assume that you can just be told ‘go eat something’ and you will? I have more questions but I cant be bothered. ?? thanks xxx

People in general don’t think people with eds are being selfish it’s more stuborn. It’s sad because people who are suffering from a ed don’t realize the side effects of them and it’s so sad to watch somebody slowly die in front of you. I understand where you are coming from because I am recovering from a ed and I used to think like that until one of my good friends past away from a ed. It’s something that you think you can control but honestly you can’t and you have to deal with it every single day for the rest of your life always thinking about food. I think people with ed are ignorant because they don’t really think about the impact it has on your mentally emotionally, soically, and physically and it hurts the people around you. I watched my best friend die because a ed controled her life. you think it can’t happpen to you and that you can stop but honestly it does not work like that at all. It’s so sad that people actually ask to have eds now and don’t think about the risks. Anyways I hope you understand better now

Fact: it’s a mental disease.

Another fact: a staggering portion of people who have that mental ilness die and or suffer life long side effects post recovery.
