Am I anorexic like my husband thinks I am?

I had a conversation with my husband last night. He seems to believe that I am anorexic. Tell me what you think. I am 26 years old, 5’1”, 110lbs. Trying to get down to 100lbs. I eat about 500 calories a day. Work out 20 minutes a day, 4 days a week. My BMI is 20. I am not anorexic, right?!

I’d say you are slightly underweight, not anorexic, though it could easily go there if you try to lose more weight. You’re short, like me, and I was a hundred pounds at 14, and I was never called fat. Right now, I’m 142 pounds and that’s right around the healthy weight for my age, 5’4” and my age, 20. I’d say you should just eat until you feel satisfied. You won’t get fat, especially if you excercise regularly and eat healthy. I acknowledge it’s hard to turn your mindset around - society has set an ideal weight far below the medically recommended weight, but from what I can read in your post, you don’t really have any reason to lose weight, other than self-respect. You’ve got a husband who obviously cares about you, and you don’t need to be skinny to succeed.

Stay healthy!

no ur deffenetly not anorexic…but i do think that you should talk to ur husband and ask him what he thinks and ask him a weight he thinks u should me weighing..im 18 5’1 also and weigh 112 and everyone thinks i look great!! so no ur not anorexic…hope i helped!!

Answer #3

It depends on how you feel. You’re 5’1 so 110 pounds is perfect. But it also depends on your body type. If you want to lose some thigh or belly fat then go for it!! Some 5’1’s look great @ 110 pounds and some look healthier @ 130 pounds. If you look great and feel great there is nothing to worry about. And if hubby thinks your sexy, don’t disagree!! He’s married to you, so if he thinks you’re skinny and perfect then leave it at that!:)

Answer #4

Stop thinking in pounds. Think in inches and BMI scale. Some people look much better with a few extra pounds. You are not anorexic. He must be using the term lightly.
