Why am I 18 and pregnant! Help?

I’m eighteen years old and I’m pregnant. I am living with my partner (the babys father) and I am happy about the news as is he, but do you think I’m too young? How hard is it going to be? I found out two days ago , is there any changes I should be making to help my baby? I’m not looking forward to telling my mother either as my sister just gave birth 3days ago! And she didnt take that too well as no one knew untill my sister went into labour that she was even pregnant! I know money will be tight as I’m currently unemployed but looking for work but my partner works fulltime. Please help!

I had my first child when I was 18 and I was in pretty much the same situation you are (except I was the first among my sisters to get pregnant).

I’m not going to lie to you - it was tough…it still is and she’s 17 now. I had to drop out of school because I had complications with the pregnancy (I didn’t get the chance to go back and finish until I was 26), so that pretty much put my career on hold for several years. Money was always really tight, but we managed to scrape by. If I could go back, I’d probably want to wait at least until I finished high school, but I have never regretted having my daughter.

Tell your parents as soon as possible because they are the ones who are going to have to be your support through all of this - I couldn’t have done it without my mom’s guidance.

Make sure you’re seeing the doctor regularly, eat well, avoid drinking, smoking, etc…you know, all the typical dangers to the baby…you’ll be just fine.

your fella will be supporting 3 people on 1 wage…

you obviously cant afford a baby.

no your not to young to have a child but this isnt the right time in your life for 1.

Answer #5

You really need to sort out money and get a job for now so that you can save up but you wont be able to spend money on things you dont need and if you want to help the baby then make sure you have plenty of iron and have a balanced diet also dont smoke or drink alcohol
