What gift can I send a 14 year old boy?

What gift can I send my 14 year old grandson in another state? I cannot send money, as his mother will spend it. I do not know his interest.

Yes Tiffany, we cannot send cash or check because we know she has cashed and spent it. Our son has checked with him and he knows nothing about it. We know the boys mom does not tell the truth, because gifts we have sent him, we were told his mother gave him, and that he got nothing from us! Other things we sent, we were told he never got, and we know he did because we have signed receipts. We don’t want to cause a big argument with his mom and for awhilte we were not sending anything at xmas time, but sending it to his dad in another state and waiting till the boy visited him to retrieve it. We do not understand how a mom could be so destructive to her son. It’s not our place to say anything because our son asked us not to??? We feel like we are neglecting our grandson; we lose and our grandson loses! Shame on the mother!

That’s a tough one. I would let the boy know ahead of time that he will be expecting a gift from you, just so his mother cant take the credit. I would send him a Gift Card but you cant because of his mother. If he’s into music, Send him an MP3 player. If he’s into sports send him some kind of sporting equipment or a video game dealing with sports. Or maybe some tshirts. It all depends on what he’s into. Can you or your son not give him the money personally? But I would also watch out on buying things that could be pawned for money too such as video games or movies.

My budget is between $25 - $50. He lives with his mom and step dad. Neither work and are always on government assistance. I understand when we send him cash or check, he never gets it. Sometimes she even says our presents come from her. I do not want to punish our Grandson for our son’s exwife’s issues.
