What are your views on abortion?

What’s you’re view on abortion? What are some reasons for having an abortion? What are the advantages/disadvantages of having one?

Please can someone link me to a good website where I can get some facts on abortion w/ statistics and religious views about the subject? Thanks.

I am pro-choice Abortion as a method of birth control is deplorable. And I don’t think that ANYONE thinks that abortion is a great thing. Women aren’t lining up, excited at the prospect of having an abortion. BUT having said that, I am pro-choice..

To each of you that are completely against abortion under any circumstances, what are you doing to help these children that you INSIST must be born? Are you working for better education, free healthcare for the children, free childcare services, better social services for the mothers AND the children? Are you DEMANDING that sex education be taught in the schools? That birth control be available to women? Are you protesting that most health insurance will pay for VIAGARA pills for men, but won’t pay for BIRTH CONTROL for women?

Or is it JUST about pushing that baby through the birth canal? That, once born, it isn’t your problem?

Your arguments about banning abortion would go a lot further IF you backed it up with options. If you worked for easier adoption laws. If you wrote your elected officials and demanded that free childcare should be available. If you went to your school boards and DEMANDED that sex education programs be taught in your schools.

In other words… Work for a better world for these children that you INSIST must be born.

For those of you religious people who are against abortion, isn’t it said that god doesn’t close a door without opening a window? Well, maybe YOU are supposed to be that window. Maybe god wants you to work for a better life for those babies that you INSIST must be born.

To each and every pro-lifer… it is not enough to say it is wrong… work for the solution…

aboration should be legal for now. families or single mothers who are not ready for a child should not have you. they may not be mature enough to raise a child or may not be financially secure enough to afford a child. this leads to debt and children who are not raised under the best circumstances.

I am for keeping abortion legal. What I don’t get though, is how people who consider it murder can make exceptions for rape and incest. Why is it not still murder in those cases?

Filletofspam you said it beautifully.

My opinion: I wouldn’t want anyone to tell me what to do with my body so I’m not going to tell them what to do with theirs.

Furthermore there are so many different situations under which abortion should be a choice (rape is only one of them) and accidents do happen- even to married people.. Why should you go through pregnancy and birth if you don’t have the money or ability to look after yourself or the child?

Answer #7

I’m pro-choice because I don’t think a woman should be forced to be a human incubator for nine months for a baby she doesn’t want.

The best I can tell those most vocally against abortion are less concerned with the fate of the fetus than other people having what they see as irresponsible sex and getting away with it. They see pregnancy as a punishment for those people. Much the same way the Roman Catholic Church was initally against using anesthesia during childbirth because painful childbirth was supposed to be one of our punishments for Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge. To people against abortion bad things are supposed to happen to fornicators so sex education, birth control, and abortion are all immoral.

Oh… so its murder… EXCEPT when the fetus was the result of rape. THAT fetus is somehow less of a life to you, than one that just happened by accident…

Even though the process of abortion would be the SAME for both. The act of aborting the ‘rape fetus’ is NOT murder… to you… for some reason…

HOW STUPID ARE YOU? T___T

I’m pro-life, but I keep my views to myself.

Utopia is right about many things…which is why I don’t push my belief on others. I would never have an abortion - regardless of the circumstance, and I would never allow my child to have an abortion…but those are issues I can deal with personally.

I can’t care for someone else’s child, and I can’t enforce any of the things utopia pointed out, so as much as I hate the idea of abortion, it’s not my right to speak for someone else.
