How can I go swimming without a tampon while on my period?

I cant go swimming because I am on my period but I can not put a tampon because it hurts and my mother does not allow them anyways
Answer #1

It all depend on how it is… have you already bled that day or how much you bleed,or how long your in the pool for…If you are in longer then 15-20 min then your fine more than that could be kinda risky…

Answer #2

Well supposedly the water stops your flow whilst you are IN the water. Once you get out though… it’s free to flow. Either way it does not seem sanitary to go swimming without a tampon. I’d either just not go or find a way to use a tampon.

Answer #3

It really doesnt matter if your on it or not I go swimming all the time with my period…when you get in the water the water stops it..so it doesnt come out((:

Answer #4

Water is suppose to stop it, but it’s not always 100% case I’ve known cases where it has happened still. So I would def learn to use a tampon, or don’t go swimming! Cause that would be very embarassing too if something did happen!!

Answer #5

My mom doesn’t let me use a tampon

Answer #6

But I don’t swim with a swim suit,I use shorts and a tank top, does that matter?

Answer #7

Mmmm… Besides a tampon, I really can’t think of anything else that would fully protect you. Cause as stated, water on ocassion does tend to stop the flow, but it doesn’t always do so. I wouldn’t risk it either if I were you. Why aren’t you allowed to use tampons? Cause you’re a virgin? Cause you’re afraid it’ll get lost in you? Whatever the reason, there’s no tabbo story anyone can tell you that should keep you away from them. If it’s the uncomfortable feeling of inserting it that bothers you, wait to use it when on a modarate flow. Relax your musscles and be sure to glide it up against the back bone, you shouldn’t feel pain when inserted properaly! :) it took me some time to practise and get use to using them too! I find them much more efficiant, comfortable and sanitary than pads!!

Answer #8

It doesn’t stop when you are in water, you just don’t see it due to the small amount of blood. When you get out it could be running down your leg. Also how would you feel if someone was having their period in your swimming pool. It’s unsanitary. Speak to your mother, there is no valid reason that you shouldn’t be using a tampon. Also if they hurt it means you aren’t putting it in deep enough usually,I recommend starting with applicator tampons, they are a lot easier to use.

Answer #9

This answer makes sence and I cannot talk to my mother. If she says no, no is no.

Answer #10

Then ask a friend to get you tampons, the mini ones with applicators and start with that.

Answer #11

I do not know why I am not allowed and I cannot simply question my mother about it.

Answer #12

There is mini?I did not know that

Answer #13

Yeah dude didn’t you learn this in like sex education when they show that awkward video to the girls in the 5th grade. And I don’t see why your mom only wants pads, they are way less comfortable. Also plese don’t do the swimming thing without a tampon its gross.

Answer #14

Yep there is a mini. Use it on the first day of your flow and get applicators, they help you get it in….oh and no one gets it right the first time.

Answer #15

I never had sex education :)

Answer #16

ask your friend for a tampon or two, then hide it from your mom, shes probobly not letting u use them cus you kinda have to … ya know… shove it up thar xD nothin to be embarresed about :) but really, dont swim without it, reaallyy bad idea it’ll leak through
