what happens if you swim while on your period

okay its my sisters birthday today & shes go swimming with a blow up castle thing in the water, I really want to go and im excited.. but I feel uncomftable using tampons & im not on heavy! and not much is on my pads my mum said id be able to go swimming because its hardly nothing. but if I do go im woried people will see it and it will come out in the water, will it?

Well, I’ve been a competitive swimmer for 10 years. You should at least try a tampon. ‘Cause if the day is inconvenient and you’re heavy, then there’s no real way of getting out of it. I wouldn’t trust going without.

(If you wear one, CHECK THE STRING EVERY HOUR. Oh god it saves you embarassment.)
