Shouldnt there be safeguards against tyrants?

The 2nd amendment to me is one of those safeguards it enables the citizens to rise against a oppresive government, Sadly its been so worn down its not much the safeguard it used to be. What other ways do you think the government should be to protect against a tyrant at home?

Answer #1

Well if that’s what you think the 2nd ammendment means, you are sadly mistaken.

I think you should actually read the constitution. I might be helpful.

Our government is protected against a tyrant through a separation of powers and a system of checks and balances. It doesn’t always work, as the last eight years has shown.

Answer #2

there is no part its your own perception decleration of independence allows for the overthrow of governent. Second you have to understand the constition from framers point of you not just what is written

Answer #3

I have read the constition and yes it was a safeguard and second it was a general question on what you think are good safeguards

Answer #4

Excuse me? The Declaration of Independence has nothing to do with our laws. Our system of goverment is no way related to it.

And how do we understand the framers point of view other than their writings? They aren’t around to ask them anymore.

Trust me, I am very knowledgeable about the constitution. I was even on a constitution debating team in High School. Many many moons ago.

Answer #5

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Please show me the part that says this a safeguard against a tyrrant? If you have read the constitution, you would know there is no provision anywhere that allows for the overthrow of a government. In fact that would be considered treason and is punishable by death.
