Was nickname really called an ekename?

Answer #1

I’ve never heard of that…

Answer #2

Yes; an ekename was interchangable with a nekename or later “a nickname.” An ekename was more commonly an epithet name or a kind of early last name than the nicknames we know today. This word “ekename” is all but oboslete now, though it does appear in my novel from Idealist Press International, Ltd., “What Snow Disrupts.”

Answer #3
