Every disease or even injury that damages the nerves or the brain but not the rest of your body might be called a nervous system disorder.

This can be malfunctions in brain metabolism, where neurotransmitter substances get out of balance. (Parkinson for example)

It can also be damage to the brain or the nerves caused by an infection (Meningitis for example).

It may be an auto-immune disease. (Multiple sclerosis most probably is one)

It can be damage to the nerves caused by a cancer tumor, a brain aneurysm, a stroke or similar internal damage.

It can be damage to the nerves caused by a head injury.

It can be inherited. (Some varieties of epilepsy are)

Or it can be due to old age. (Most varieties of the Alzheimer disease)
