Can lack of sleep cause sickness?

I’ve hardly slept since last Thursday because of nightmares I guess. I’m like afraid to sleep sometimes, I don’t really know why. But I haven’t slept yet tonight (it 4:53am) and I started feeling sick about an hour ago and I was too weak to walk or crawl or anything so I just layed on my floor, and I just threw up all over -.-

Yes, in a way. Sleeplessness can cause hypersensitivity to stimulants, irregular hormone function, depression, stress, and various other things, all of which can make you feel ill.

Answer #2

Just to add to what Aleksadr posted, sleep deprivation also effects the immunity system. Most teens require about 9 hours sleep but some can function with less. Basic rule of thumb is if your tired mid day, yur body is telling you, you haven’t given it enough sleep time to repair. Try and redirect your focus from the nightmares by meditation, yoga, or getting a really good book (non scarey) to reprogram your mind before sleep. The lack of sleep may also be aiding your nightmares.
