How much breastmilk/formula should my 6 month old be eating a day?

Right now he eats four 4oz meals and four 2oz meals a day, so a total of 24oz, but I feel like he doesn’t eat enough! Plus he eats a bunch of small meals whereas all the other babies at this age eat around 6-8oz a feeding! He does get rice cearel once a day and a serving of veggies once a day as well. He also refuses to switch to fast-flow nipples - even though the doctor said he should switch at 3 months, he just screams when it isn’t slow flow :( I am at such a loss here! HELP!

you know what I dont mean to sound to off, but really your baby knows how much he wants, and I have 4 kids..10yr,8yr.,6yr,and 1yr old..I read all the books and mags.asked question after question..and truthful its all intresting but its not always all for your lil one,, all babies are so diff. and all my kids are healthy ,were healthy at that age.they were never over weight or anything crazy lilke that…but I did give my lil ones water threw out the day… he may be going threw a growth spurt and need a lil more milk … and the nipples hey hes your lil one and if hes not ready then hes not ready try everyonce in awhile or only when hes sitting up with you .he your lil one and if you feel he needs alil more then your probly right,, as long as hes not throwing up all the time ,, hes a growing boy let him eat…good luck

don’t let your Baby control you. If he is hungry he will eat. it wont matter what it comes out of. As far as how much? He should teach you when he is hungry and when he is soiled just by how the baby acts.

every baby has his/her own personality and they are all so different. My 11 month is with the slow flow when as to my 2yr old was using the fast flow since she was 5 months old. dont worry too much if you think he is not getting enough food. His stomach is small so he gets full fast, but when he is hungry you will most certanly know. Thats just the way it goes, a mom knows.

All babies are different, try a medium flow nipple. Remember to burp him after 2-4oz. He may just be filling up on AIR. If you get some really good burps after 2oz. then stick to burping him after every 2oz. How is he doing on the cereal. If he does good on the cereal try feeding him that 2-3 times a day, between/before bottle time. My oldest didn’t drink much either. Just make sure he is wetting and that his poop isn’t getting harder than usual. If you notice that his pee is darker than usual then you SHOULD be concerned. just because the Doctor says that he should be drinking 6-8oz a feeding doesn’t mean that he CAN, go with your gut feelings, if your really worried go back to the Doctor and ask for some one on one time with a nutritionist or other professional that can help you.
