How long should I run?

hey so I thought I should start running again since I’m starting to become disgustingly overweight. I used to run though, or jog, whatever. but then I started to get like those shin cramps where my shins get all tight and they hurt so bad so I stopped. but I thought I should get back into it to lose some weight and get healthy and all that stuff. and I was wondering how long should I run for? like 15 to 20 mins? do intervals? or just jog at the same pace the whole way?

I would start off easy, maybe just job the whole way and slowly build it up so that you are giving your body time to adjust. You can increase your speed and distance, just be sure to stretch thoroughly before and after running so that you reduce muscle soreness and reduce the risk of injury. Also, its a good idea to get yourself a good pair of trainers, otherwise you could end up getting blisters and sore feet. All the best :)
