bless, ok, for the tireness at school, either you’re very unstimulated, you need glasses which could be making your eyes tired, your not eating properly or, you guessed it, you’re not getting enough sleep at night!

ok, you get up at 6am? and you get into bed at 9.30pm, that means that you’re aiming for 8 and half hours sleep (admirable!).

what happends when you go to bed? do you paly on the comp before? games? bath? etc? maybe you should go to bed earlier and read for an hour to tire your eyes out, and I’m on about something interesting, not homework, because then your eyes really will work because you’re actually wanting to see the words clearly.

also, you may not need 8 hours sleep…some people don’t and you’re stressing yourself out about going to sleep.

I would also look hart at your nutritional intake (food, diet) and see what you’re putting into your body. some foods make you tired, some stmulate you.

if you eat starchy things like bread, pasta, potatoes etc at lunch you will feel lethargic after lunch because your body has to work so hard to process it, maybe you should think more along the lines of salads, or pitta breads at lunch…easier for your body to digest.

as for night time, make sure you haven’t been stimulated by comp / tv / phone / texts etc, and what ever your doing doesn’t make you over think…also make sure you have a really good hearty dinner, not too much.

in addition, if you do change your diet and some other factors and there is no change, then there are plenty of herbal remedies that help sleep, like Nytol (C) (please note; any medications should only be taken after reading leaflet throughly and following guidelines. you should always speak to your parent or guardian about taking medication, and they should administer it, not you)

so I think we’ve covered, briefly, diet, activites and complementory therapys…most of all - stop fretting! when you lay in bed, thinking about not being able to sleep wil only exaserbate the problem!

I have the same problem.

I gave up eventually. The reason this tends to happen is because the teenage body and mind do not actually become fully awake until around the hours of 10 and 11, so our bodies want us to sleep until then, and therefore want us to stay up later.
