When George W. Bush flew in an F18 Hornet when he was President, did that plane's call sign switch to Airforce one?

Any plane the president travels on is supposed to be called airforce one. Just wondering.

Answer #1

Actually, the plane was a Navy plane rather than Air Force. When the president is aboard it’s call sign becomes “Navy One.” Likewise if it was an Army plane it would be “Army One” Don’t know about coast guard though.

Answer #2

I looked it up on Wikipedia and the call sign of a Coast Guard plane indeed changes to “Coast Guard One” should the president be aboard. While there I learned that a plane carrying the Vice President becomes “Air Force/Army/Navy/Marine/Coast Guard/Executive Two.” A plane carrying the president’s family becomes “Whatever One Foxtrot”

Answer #4

it was called Navy One, while George W. Bush was aboard.
