Friend wants to commit suicide, what should I do?

I have this friend whose the most important person in the world to me..and he told me he wants to commit suicide..I tried everything I could to convince him not too and ik now that it wont work..but he wont tell me why he wants to..he might start but then he changes the subject or just drops it. He always tell me its not anyone else’s problem so whats the point in telling them? I told him because people care about you and even thought things seem really bad right now and your feeling like that you need to believe things will get better..but he doest believe me. He told me that the reason he told me he was feeling like that was because he trusted me..that I wouldnt tell anyone he told me if I told anyone he would never talk to me again. I dont know what to do my world would fall apart if I lost him and I feel like if anything happens it would be my fault because I couldve done more. Please help me I dont know what to do

Please whatever you do do not leave this person alone…as long as you are with them they won’t kill themselves the next thing you have to do is try harder to convince him that life won’t b horrible forever. Killing himself would b a horribly selfish thing to do. Tell him to think about his future…what about his wife (future) and children (future) doesn’t he have anything that he wants to do with his life…what exactly is making it so bad. in a lot of cases of suicide in adolecents it is acutally because of bullyin in school or family problems. if it has to do with school maybe he could transfer schools or if it’s his parents that are always giving him a hard time tell him to try to talk to one of his other relatives or his friends parents. Tella teacher or counseler or social worker. They can do wonders.
