You need to just shut down your body...clear your mind of the days thoughts and relax.Since i was 12 years old i found out i could do this with such good results i never stay awake to complete what i try to do. It is a bit weird but i have heard some yoga technique is the same? What i do is.... Lay down on your back as comfortable as poss, Clear your mind of thoughts...look at what you see with your eyes closed, the darkness of nothing...this is important to think of nothing at all but the nothing you see...if ya get me. Then,i start with my left foot...i try to feel(mentally) my foot,i can sence it relaxed and there....then that feeling of it,i focus on...it feels fuzzyish like a untuned old tv (excuse my mad explanations but it is the best way to explain it). So you now are laying down focusing your vibe on your left foot with out any other thoughts what so ever...then you let the fuzzy feeling grow in your toes...slowly bringing it down to your ankle...then up to your knee ...slowly to your thigh...by now you would have felt your left foot toes strangely relaxing (they seem to move by em selfs)...then bring the sensation down to your right leg and work it all the way up....I have never got past my neck as i always am a sleep by then....10 mins is all you need if you can clear your mind and develop this way of chillin your body and mind out.
Reduce the amount of caffeine you drink after 4 pm
establish a night time routine - example, take off make up, climb into bed, flip through a magazine or do a puzzle...
figure out when workouts are better, some people do it right before bed, others find it too stimulating and it keeps them up
get a really comfy pillow.
try falling asleep listening to classical music
Don't go on your cellphone or computer 1-2 hours before bed, the bright background does something to your brain I heard, that keeps you up. Drink tea with camomile in it with honey, no sugar. Liisten to soothing sounds like download rain, thunderstorms or ocean waves and listen to it while you sleep.
There are certain foods to help you sleep and certain things that don't help you sleep. I know warm milk helps and chocolate doesn't. Look up the list online to find out what works best for you
I already do most of that stuff. I hardly drink any caffeine, I'm in bed at 9-10, work out in the morning, have a REALLY comfy pillow but I haven't tried the classical music. Thanks! :)
Oh, then there's always counting sheep too... lol. Never worked for me. I'd lie awake wondering who started it and how many people it worked for.
Reading a book always puts me to sleep but if I workout to late sometimes I become way to wired to sleep...some people it's the reverse though.
Music tends to keep people awake more. I would suggest rainforest, or rainy day sounds to put you to sleep.
half an hour exersise can help you.
Maybe the sheep herders...LOL
