Eagle feathers

so we just received a wholedead bald eagle from the government for our personal use, because we are native, but seriously why are laws so uptight on eagle feathers, I mean I’ve found so many, and it was illegle for me to have them, even though I am native, dont you think thats messed up, I mean I get that they dont want people shooting them but its disrespectful to leave an eagle feather on the ground, its better if you even burn it. Thougths opinions?

Answer #1

Native Americans are the only people who can have them in Montana…tho, if I found one, I’d keep it…just wouldn’t wear it in public or anything…finders keepers, ya know?? :) Actually, being in possession of a feather probably wouldn’t get you into too much trouble…being in possession of enough feathers to indicate a “kill” WOULD get ya into trouble.

different countries have different laws …a lot of those laws are stupid…and a lot of laws need to be changed, lowered, be more than what they are, ect in your country the bald eagle is like a sacred animal kind of like how important cows are in india or cats were to the egyptians but it should be perfectly fine to find a feather and keep it

Answer #3

no, I mean EVERY native has an eagle feather, but you have to have a permit to be legal, I got a permit so im good to go, even though I’ve had eagle feathers for years.

Answer #4

Um…actually…there isn’t any law against natives having eagle feathers…whites yes…but not us…at least I don’t think so. I’m native too so yeah…I might be wrong though. It’s our land…we should be able to keep them!

Answer #5

Did they ask if you wanted it or . . .? How’d it get delivered? What are you going to do with it? Never heard of such a thing - just curious!

Answer #6
