can you belive in both

can you belive in both god and evolution?

Answer #1

I believe in both. I believe evolution was set into motion by God.

How can your believe in both??? If you believe in God then your believe the Bible, And the Bible says God Created everything??? so there for your theory that you believe in God is quite flawed.

Answer #2

“and as for the Stoning, in this day and age there are people on this earth that shud be stoned to death or at least hung!!! I dont mean children or adulterers.”

Aha! So you do apply interpretation! See, if you took the bible literally, you would support stoning adulterers and unruly children (and a whole heap of other people, too). However, sensibly, you recognise that not everything in the bible can be treated as literally true and applicable today. The only difference between you and other christians who don’t let their beliefs get in the way of scientific fact is that they’re prepared to accept more of the bible as allegory and metaphor than you are.

I’ll leave the unpleasantness of proposing killing someone when you believe that dooms them to eternal torture to someone else to respond to.

Answer #3

arachnid: I totally believe in everything that you just said!! Because God said so, and for that I believe it!!! and as for the Stoning, in this day and age there are people on this earth that shud be stoned to death or at least hung!!! I dont mean children or adulterers. But as I believe if you die in your sins, you have a lot more to worry about after death than you do on this earth! I will always take the Bible literally.

lucky for me tho, this world is the worst hell I will every know!!!

Answer #4

xchurdlex: Really? Do you honestly believe that adulterers and unruly children should be stoned to death, that you shouldn’t wear garments of mixed cloth, that every single animal on earth lived within walking distance of Noah’s ark (and boarded in less than 24 hours), and that Jonah literally lived inside a whale before being spit up whole and unharmed?

If the answer to any of those is “not really”, then you, too, don’t take the bible literally.

Answer #5

Oh, there’s that denial again…

Even though you’ve just admitted that your lack of knowledge of your own religion indeed factual.

Is it the [fact] that I dont know enough about my religion?

Answer #6

I dont understand what exactly??? you havent told me yet. Is it the fact that I dont know enough about my religion??? Well if thats what you think then I cant change it, same way you cant change what I think! I think you’d agree with me.

So lets leave it there!

Answer #7

I believe in God and ADAPTATION. I don’t believe that man came from monkeys, but I believe that creatures can change a decent amount via adaptation to adjust to their environment. I dunno, that’s my compromise, I guess. it works for me.

Answer #8

You’ve made it abundantly clear that you don’t understand much of it either… which was my point…

And I didn’t say YOU were weak, I said your FAITH was weak.

Answer #9

I also find when reading genesis, it seems to be more a figarative explaination rather than a literal one. It seems more concerned with what happened rather than exactly how it happened if that makes sense.

Answer #10

Even the catholic church has officially said that they don’t consider their teachings to conflict with evolution. It’s only hardcore biblical literalists (mostly young earth creationists) who insist otherwise.

Answer #11

Yes… one does not preclude the other. Unless you take the bible (or some other religious texts) literally… then you cannot…

Answer #12

What on earth does that have to do with anything?

Answer #13

Oh, and you’re in denial too…

Complacency in one’s faith is admitting its weakness.

Answer #14

well if some christains dont believe that Jesus coudlnt sin, then they arnt true chirstains.

Now you’re just showing your ignorance… You need to learn more about your own religion, and its history, before you start drawing conclusions about other people’s beliefs.

Answer #15

well if some christains dont believe that Jesus coudlnt sin, then they arnt true chirstains.

Thats all im saying, we arnt even on topic anymore.

Prob my fault.

Answer #16

What was Jesus crusified for??? he did no wrong and yet they killed him???

You say that like he was the ONLY person ever wrongly killed…

Answer #17

I believe in both. I believe evolution was set into motion by God.

Answer #18

I believe that certain things do evolve, however, I do not believe in anything being created outside of God or his ability that is given to man, thru wisdom and understanding, being created.

God is the author of everything that is.

I believe in the Big Bang theory, because God said, Let there be… and there was.

Without him, nothing is made, apart from his wisdom and ability.

Science is the study of what is. Not the author of creation. It does have limited powers, but, those powers were given by God. Anything else is futile.

Answer #19

Yes I see your point, but other innocent people bein killed, did they do absolutely nothing wrong in there intire life??? NO!!! because it is totally immpossible for anyone to not do anything wrong. Jesus done NOTHING wrong. ever.

That’s debatable… depending on what you consider to be sin (inherited sin excluded). Regardless, this remains to be only your belief… not PROVEN. And not ALL Christians believe that Jesus was free of and/or incapable of sinning.

Answer #20

You say that like he was the ONLY person ever wrongly killed…

Yes I see your point, but other innocent people bein killed, did they do absolutely nothing wrong in there intire life??? NO!!! because it is totally immpossible for anyone to not do anything wrong. Jesus done NOTHING wrong. ever.

What on earth does that have to do with anything?

I agree with you, we have both completely went off topic, so I think we should leave it there.

Answer #21

…and you quoted it as a FACT.

Answer #22

…and, the first of the young earth creationists checks in.

Answer #23

No I was quoting what you said.

Answer #24

of course im weak. Im human! But with God by myside im strong, and I dont expect you to understand that.

Answer #25

Evolution does not deny the existence of god, but it does not require the exitence of god either.

Answer #26

Yes. Creation and Evolution balance eachother out. Its perfectly fine.

Answer #27

Most people believe in god and also accept evolution, so yes, it’s possible.

Answer #28

Answer #29

Answer #30

Answer #31

Answer #32

Answer #33

Answer #34

I don’t believe that man came from monkeys

Answer #35

Answer #36
