What do you think of boys who want to change gender at an early age?

I was watching a documentary where boys of 10 and 12 wanted to change their gender, but i think its too soon to let them do that, and the thing that they are in the wrong body thats not true, i mean why God would do that on purpose, thats nonsense,God give us our bodies for a reason, now if they use their free will and want to do other things that is another issue, but at least they should wait until they grow up, what if is just a momentary thing and then they will regret it. What do you think?

Well, for a start I don’t believe that a God gave anything to anybody, but that’s another matter. Unless you are in that position it’s very difficult to say. If you really have such a strong feeling you the wrong gender then thinking about your options is a good thing. And most countries wouldn’t just do it, there’s all sorts of evaluations that go on first, it can take many, many years for the process to be completed.

There are many people who feel that they are more feminine or more masculine than their set “genders”. They feel that they were born girls, but their physical bodies are male, or vice-versa. In some cultures there are not only 2 genders, there are several genders other than just male and female. I agree that they should wait before doing something permanent, but when they are older, they should do whatever makes them feel comfortable in their own skin. You can’t call them a liar since you’ve never experienced it yourself.

Answer #3

Gender identity is complex. An argument for early gender reassignment might be it would be more successful prior to puberty since they will not have the effects of adolescent hormones to un-do later. The people I read about who changed gender knew from an early age that their psychological gender did not match their physical gender.

Answer #5

I think that it is a serious desision that maybe a ten and twelve year old may change there mind about in the future. So until a person is mature enough to make that desision they should stick with acting/ dressing as the oposit gender.
