The 8th graders at my school watched the Australian movie, The Dish and then got into the whole space study. They mostly focused on Neil Armstrongs landing on the moon though because that's what the movies all about. They put on plays of Neil Armstrongs first step and presented them to other classes. It was realy good!

aha, we're not, but I'm in canada. It depends on the area, school board, ect. In our textbook we're doing water systems, like ocean basins and stuff like that.
Space? Hahaha no i learned that in 6th grade. right now we'r in the Periodic Table of the elements, and then we move into chemistry
nope! we learned about some of space last year in 7th grade. last year was mostly just stars.... this year we're learning biology

it all depends on what the state requires for that grade level's curriculum.
