Why does my bassett hound loves to lick and give little bites

My 2 year old basset hound loves to lick and nibble on my Chow Chow ears. The Chow doesn’t seem to mind be it can sometimes get a little rough. Is the Basset trying to be dominate? Or is it a sign of affection to each other? Just Curious.

Answer #1

This is odd but dogs and cats ADORE ear wax, I don’t know if anyone has notice they will go out of their way to eat used Qtips. Anyway, The chow made have dirty ears or a minor ear infection, I recommend cleaning the chows ears really good and you may notice the hounds interest in them stops. Good Luck.

I call them love bites…she uses their front teeth, right? I had a GSD who did that, too, on people…damn those teeth could PINCH…but he did it to the other dogs, and to our cat…and none of them minded a bit.

It’s a sign of affection, its like grooming my dog does this to my clothes, and its like a taking care kind of thing
