What is your favorite bible verse in the Christian bible? Why is it a favorite? Explain how it has helped you.
Mathew 7 21-23.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many people will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
it opens the eyes of many hipocrites.
many people think they are Christians, being raised as one in the family, but you cant be raised a Christian, since its a decision one makes when they understand (its no small decision). Lot of people think that simply believing in a God and going to church makes them a Christian, but once again, that is wrong. Going to church doesnt make you a Christ follower.
when one follows Christ, they follow his teachings, and try to live by his footsteps and examples. showing love to people, and at the same time trying to accumulate that personal friendship with God.
that is exactly what this verse talks about.
people who think they are safe, be it by doing good deeds, ar any other confusion, but them come to the realization once its too late, that in reality, they were never actually following Christ to begin with. which in turn means...
I LOVE John 3:16.
It's super common and all.
"For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son. For whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but live eternal life."
Doesn't it basically speak for itself!?
It's helped me so much.
And it was one of my first bible verses memorized.
It's helped me, because. Well. How could it not? Aha. x]
Anyways... I mean... Think about the words. He so loved the world. Gave His one and only Son. Whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but live eternal life.
Eternal life. Grasp that. Can you? I can't even imagine.
And because He loved us so, He sacrificed His ONE AND ONLY SON. Wow.
Would you sacrifice your one and only kid for the world? For the sinners who don't even deserve it? The Lord is amazing. And He is Love.
'Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, 'Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!' So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.'
Any God who orders a bear hit on some rowdy teens is a God I can get behind.
Yes, I am. =]
I'm a PROUD CHRISTIAN!! xD
Oh yeah. x]
And I don't see a problem with it. xP
Also, another one is Job 23:10. "For he knows the path I take. And when He has put me to the test, I will come out as pure as gold." I like that one because it's quite encouraging. I remember that verse whenever I feel like a situation is overwhelming to me, and I want to just give up. I hope that it can help uplift you, too!
"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."
Most overlooked verse in the Bible...maybe because giant-on-human or angel-on-human sex doesn't strike many pastors as good sermon material.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, for whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
It reminds me that God will always be their for us, evem when times are hard.
Sorry. Thought you meant me, and that would be typical for most christian people to "Cheer you up" with some stuff from the bible, if you know what I mean.
I didn't mean to be rude.
"create in me a clean heart oh god and renew a right spirt within me" not sure what verse but I remember it and looove it!
No. Not you.
I meant the person who asked the question.
And that was a kind of a rude way to put it.
@ Aliyah : Wow. You are really high on this bible-thing aren't you? He heh.
Who? Me? I really don't any uplifting by you, thanx.
