Why are girl's vaginas so tight before losing there virginities?

My first time was very painful. My boyfriend was only able to put his penis in me about 2 inches, I was to tight. is this normal?

Tightness like you are describing is usually one of two things…

Because of your pain. he was hesitant to proceed and so did not rupture your hymen, or it was fibrous and he couldn’t rupture it. The initial rupture of the hymen can be painful… especially at your age. OR, more likely You have a common condition known as vaginismus, which is a spasmodic tightening of the vagina. It is usually caused by anxiety or possibly pain. You do not have conscious control of it. You can think of it as your body not being quite ready for sex.
