My management coaching tells me that there are some proven methods of fast reading (understanding the content), like looking at the line in the middle.
How do people really improve their speed, or does it just happen or is there any valid conscious effort..?
Usually it's a practice of mentally skipping the filler words (such as "the", "it", or any other small word with little importance). Once you can skip those, you can concentrate on the important words and instead of mentally saying the words, you just skim them and quickly commit them to your mind.
I've been speed reading for many years, and it's a skill - you can't just do it, you have to learn it.
Well, I'm told that I read really, really fast, but I personally have no idea how I do it. I guess I look at the SENTENCE, but not at the words. So I dont read it word for word, but I just look at a page like its a painting. I cant explain it sorry!
I think you should take your hand ,and guide your fingers over the line.I use this technique all the time and it always works for me no matter how long the sentence is.
