What can happen with winter storms?

I am writing a paper about winter storm in science and I am suposed to tell why they are the must destructive storms. can you please give me a couple reasons why you think winter storms are the must destructive storms, examples: citys spend money, trapped in houses by snow Thanks!

well, think of it this way - theres a blizzard. okay. then traffic starts because of an avalaunche that the blizzard caused. Okay. then, it’s snowing so much that people often have to get out of their cars and wipe the snow off of them. one car, however is completley trapped. the man inside can’t open his door because it’s been sealed by snow, and it’s -7 degrees celcius in his car. he only has some water and a bit of food to survive. The blizzard is still going on, and at last the snow blocks all open air spaces. So the car is shielded by very cold snow which is naturally followed by wind.

the man inside the car has no oxygen and can’t breathe so he dies.

that’s why.

um it causes setbacks in other plans, damage to property depending on how violent the storm may be, people trying to find safety and warmth, vehicle accidents, ice dangers, ect…google it maybe that’ll give you more ideas

Where I live, we periodically get ice storms. This happens when precipitation falls from warmer atmosphere levels in the form of rain down to colder air near the ground, where it instantly freezes to everything it touches. It builds up on trees and power lines until it makes them so heavy they just break. We once had power out for 4 days because the damage was so heavy and widespread, the power companies just didn’t have enough work crews to fix it all quickly.

Also, heavy snow adds weight to the rooves of large buildings and can sometimes cause them to collapse.
