I suggest if you want to lose ONE pound a week (very safe amount to lose) then eat/excersize off 500 calories a day. So that means... hm... well you should eat 2000 cals a day... you should eat about 1700/1800 and work off 2/300 cals a day.
If you want to lose TWO pounds a week, you have to work off 1000 cals a day. So you'd have to eat only when hungry and work out for like an hour and a half each day..

I am exercising and eating healthy. I just gained 6 pounds in a half a day. I think it is because I am close to starting my period, I just finished exercising, and I drank 3 bottles of water! The eliptical said that I burned 300+ calories and I haven't eaten over 2000 calories. It has to be water weight. So, YES you can gain 5 lbs in one day because I did.
Actually you can lose more then a measley 2 lbs a week. Depending on your activity level and degree of working out. I train MMA and have actually lost 5 lbs in one practice. You just have to know your body its needs and your limits. your body can more then likely with stand a 2 lbs a week cut...
you cant lose or gain pounds in a day. unless you literally eat to death. or eat till youre sick. but still, you cant. impossible. with HEALTHY workout and diet plans, you can lose 1-2lbs a week. anything more than that isnt healthy.
