Answer #2

I PROUDLY say the pledge - I am PROUD to be an American and what it stands for - I PROUDLY sing ‘The Starbangled Banner’ and ‘God bless America’ - The door is wide open for you to find a better, more free, more charitable, country - I would submit to you: There is none so blind as one who refuses to see - you don’t even have to write !!

Answer #3

I HATE THE FACT THAT WE ARE SO CALL WORSHIPPING A DAM* FLAG, AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER COUNTRIES? SHOULDN’T GOD BLESS THEM TOO?

Answer #5

The name-calling and cursing in this thread is embarrassing.

Locking now.

Answer #6

I do not stand for or recite the pledge because a) it contains an unconstitution reference to God, and b) it’s empty patriotism at best. I sit quiety and remember my ancestors who fought in the various wars here and I honor their memory. I do not agree with all that they did but I am proud that they were brave enough to stand up for what they believe. As I sit, I also contemplate the Bill of Rights and what it means to a free society. I spend the time appreciating the great sacrifices that have been made on our behalf.

So while everyone else is standing up mindlessly mouthing words that don’t mean anything, I am sitting in my seat crying softly.

beautiful234 soldiers are fighting pointless war in Iraq because of oil not for their country. It’s stupid and people need to realize it. Do I like the states… not really because a lot of people who live there are very ignorant towards other countries and don’t give a damn about their own. The US educational system is crappy, same with their health care, and not to mention there welfare system. You may be in your own little world where it;s sunshine and butterflys but life is harsh and cold and America is not really what it seems just like every other part in the world. Good for you to be nationalistic about your country but just to let you know the states has brought on a pointless war because they ran out of oil and in the midst of it they dragged Canada do you really think they are the greatest now?

Answer #8

The pledge is a load of CRAP. I hate patriotism… if someone else is patriotic for this country, that’s THEIR belief, and that’s fine… but personally I dislike the U.S. and everything it stands for… because what we THINK it stands for is nothing but lies.

People are fooled by the idea of freedom… true freedom doesn’t exist within a country and it’s laws.

Granted, it could be A LOT worse… but that doesn’t mean how our government manipulates us is right.

I don’t even stand up for the pledge in school. :p
