The idea behind 8 glasses of water a day is that instead of drinking pop, juice, or anything else, you drink water to stay hydrated. By drinking water instead of something like pop you cut out a lot of unnecessary sugars and calories, especially if you do consume a lot of it, which in the end help you to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
As it has been said drinking water alone won't make a huge difference if you're not actually living a healthy lifestyle otherwise, but it does help nevertheless.
The reasons people say drinking 8 glasses of water a day are: 1. It will replace any soda, juice, or sugar filled drink you might put into your body. Thus, cutting down the sugar and fat from those drinks and replacing it with water 2. Some people, myself included, believe that water increases your metabolism, makes your body more efficient in general. So by increasing the speed of your metabolism you naturally break down food/calories quicker thus cutting down on SOME weight, not that much.
For you to lose weight you would have to do more then drink water you have to change your daily diet and exercise more also not everyone has to drink the same amount of water it depends on your weight...you take your weight and divide it in half then what ever the sum is thats how many oz's of water you need to be drinking daily
not nessessarily, there is no nutrient in water. It only keeps you full and hydrate, that is why you need some sort of calories to burn. Jogging would help a lot more then you think
You can drink as many glasses of water as you want - without a proper diet or healthy lifestyle it isn't going to make you loose a significant amount of weight.
