Is it possible to tear calf muscle?

A couple of weeks ago i went swimming andmy left calf began hurting really bad but i figured it was because i hadnt swam in so long. The thing is the pain hasnt gone away. There are days its not so bad but when i workout it literally brings me to tears(mostly out of frustration). I even tried resting it forseveral days, icing it, the whole works but it doesnt helped. Today i asked my mom what could be wrong and she said there is noway i could have damaged the muscle. That it was impossible and to just work through it.. i dont know what to do. I am going to try to go see a doctor but i dont know when they will be able to set me an appointment

Yup

There are walk-in clinics, they will be able to tell if you tore your calf muscle or not.

Answer #3

you probably have a ripped tendon, go get checked out

Answer #4

It is possible and happens often as muscle-building requires muscle fibers to stretch and tear to be recovered with more fibers.

Whether you tore the fibers or tendon in a serious way can only be determined by a trained professional. My opinion on this is that if it hurts to perform intense exercise, you’ve probably just torn the fibers a little and/or are experiencing involuntary muscle cramps in the calf. If you cannot put any weight on the leg, then you’ve more than likely damaged the tendon which based on severity can require surgery.
