Answer #1

It’s a bit of a political mess, to be honest, and while I can see why they would react to such a question the way they did, doesn’t make it right. . So, to try and make things as clear as I can, Taiwan is physically a part of China, but it has it’s own government, so it doesn’t follow the same rules and amendments that China does. Taiwan prefers to recognize itself as an independent country, but China views it as a state of China.

Answer #2

If it has its own government etc then shouldnt it be a republic?

Answer #3

It is a republic.

Answer #4

Taiwan calls itself “The Republic of China on Taiwan”. I listen to Radio Taiwan International all the time, on shortwave and the Internet and it’s interesting to hear how close the People’s republic of China, and the Republic of China are becoming.

Answer #5

OMG…So confusing @_@ thanks everyone

Answer #6

Taiwan is technically part if china but it has a separate government and should be it’s own country

Answer #7

Taiwanese people think China is a part of Taiwan.

Answer #8

No that’s actually not true. I lived there I know. Taiwan was considered the governmental center of china while the UN thought shang hi sheck (can’t remember the spelling so I sounded it out) was in change. This was because Shang had been chased out of china by the new leader I forget who it was exactly. But Taiwanese people actually didn’t want to be part of china and still don’t.
