Do you believe snapping yourself with rubber bands is a safer alternative than cutting or do you believe it is just as bad?

My therapist told me to snap myself instead but I choose to not do either

Answer #1

lol depends on how hard you snap… but who would want to do that to themselves anyways?

Answer #2

I beleive it’s just as bad, because you still cause self harm, and all the bacteria and germs are on the rubber band, just as they are when you cut yourself with something eles.

Answer #3

all these methods are not appropriate

Answer #4

I do believe it’s a safer alternative. I feel that it’s a step towards getting rid of a cutting addiction and towards getting better. Everyone knows it’s hard to quit an addiction cold turkey, as with smoking and the nicotine patch, I believe that the rubber band technique is healthier and a stepping stone. Good for you for doing neither though.

Answer #5

I believe snapping a rubber band is much much better. It means you want to stop cutting which is one step forward by itself. It isnt as harmful and shows that you want to rid the addiction/habit. Its a much safer alternative.

Answer #6

Snapping a rubber band is okay but cutting your self is bad

Answer #7

Why are kids doing this?

Answer #8

its a coping mechanism to deal with things and it becomes addictive

Answer #9

They are both frowned apon because no matter what you are inflicting pain to yourself, bu the rubber band is safer because, when you cut you bleed and you have a chance I cutting a major vain or something, but wih the band it doesn’t cut you, it bruises you at most.

Answer #10
