Should I stress out myself for getting a B in freshman year?

I just got a B in a pretty hard computer programming class in summer school. I’m very disappointed because it was my first high school class, and I screwed it up. I had been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA in 8th grade, so getting a B is frustrating, and to me, a failure. However, I know that high school is very different from middle school and that I shouldn’t put all these pressure on myself. My teacher keeps on telling me that freshman year doesn’t really matter, especially summer school. My question for you guys is: Is a B really that bad or is it just me? I would like to know your GPA in high school if you are willing to share with me. Thanks!!!

A B is not a failure. like you said, high school is different! I don’t think you should have the same expectations of yourself as you did in middle school. and it was a difficult class right? so take it easy! (:

Answer #2

I stress over that stuff tooo but try not to because it may make it harder to get good grades if your stressed…but if you get a b in a hard classes colleges will like that more then if you get an A in an easy class I have a 3.333 so far =/ but itll hopefully improve

my mom expects me to get all A’s. she say’s im capable of it, so a B is unacceptable. but I think a B is fine. I strive to make A’s to please my mom, but we all slip up. try not to stress about it.. do the best you can- that’s all you can do!

In reality a “B” isn’t really that bad. High school is a tad bit tougher than middle school so maybe you should lower your expectations a bit. You would still want to work hard, you just need to see where you average and then set your goal up from there. It will be hard for you because you are use to getting such high grades but you don’t want to get depressed when you don’t get the grades. I have a 3.4 and I am perfectly content with that.

A B is really good, you should not worry about that. As long as you pass you cares right? :)
