What is the religion in which you don't believe in heaven, God, the devil, or hell?

Just wondering .

Answer #1

athiest?

Answer #2

no an atheist is where you believe God, only, doesn’t exist. you just simply wouldn’t have a religion, a religion is to believe in and worship something, to believe in nothing is like an oxymoron.

Answer #3

I like how it has ‘moron’ in it haha

Answer #4

Atheism is a belief or theory, not a religion. Though many people argue it is.

Answer #5

the definition of a religion is “a specific fundamental set of BELIEFS and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons.” you just said atheism is a belief not a religion but they’re the same thing?

Answer #6

a belief of the past, the earth is flat.. That is not a religion.

Answer #7

atheism is believing that there’s no god, not a belief of the past or the earth is flat? lol

Answer #8

The earth is flat is a belief of the past, but it is not a religion. Do you see my point? Some definitions can not be taken literally.

Answer #9

I don’t really have any beliefs. I’ll believe it when I see it, I guess. I’m open to the idea of a God or higher deity but until I know for sure, I’m not too bothered. I don’t live by any set of rules or anything, and I actually feel kinda sorry for the people who live by a book, tiptoeing through life so that they don’t anger their God. Life is to have fun! If you aren’t happy, then your God isn’t doing a very good job is he?

I’m pretty much down for whatever on the subject haha.

Answer #10

thats a completely different subject tho! it only works that way when dealing with gods and such, your taking it in a completely different perspective.

Answer #11

How about this. You said beliefs and practices… Atheist’s practice nothing, therefore it is not a religion.

Answer #12

No no, they dont believe in god that doesn’t mean they don’t believe in another diety or anything and that they don’t practice anything else; its just nothing dealing with god lol

Answer #13

Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.

Answer #14

no, only “God” I looked it up, it specifically used the word god, not other deities lol

Answer #15

I’m sorry but your source is incorrect.

Answer #16

its on a bunch of different things, maybe yours is wrong?

Answer #17

What are your sources then? Because I am starting to think that when you see the word god in the definition you are jumping to the conclusion that atheism is just solely against the christian “God”. Which it is not. Atheist do not believe in any deities at all.

Answer #18

There are several that might fit your description…

Atheism is you don’t believe anything unless it can be proven. And where you say that the existence of higher beings are extremely improbable and religion is basically nonsense. It’s equal to having no faith at all.

Agnosticism is where you say that you can’t decide whether there is any God and say wait for further information before you decide to be faithful or worship anything. It’s like atheism but the agnostic isn’t sure while the atheist is damn sure that there is no god.

Discordianism is you don’t believe anything. At all. Even if it can be proven. And you amuse yourself about the confusion that you cause in other people with that. It’s not a religion for the mentally stable.

In Buddhism, there is no god. They have some sort of spirits though. Their “hell” is earth… material existence. People are reborn as long as they don’t reach perfection. Good people get to be people again. Bad people get to be animals, insects, bacteria… depending on how much they f*cked up in life. As soon as you reach perfection, you are not reborn but reach the state of Nirvana. Which basically means that you dissolve into nothingness.

Then there are several religions (Hinduism, Viking, Neo-Paganism ancient Greek, ancient Roman, ancient Germanic, ancient Nordic, ancient Celtic) where they have several gods that have more or less human traits of character. With good and evil gods. And afterlives that aren’t anywhere close to those described in Christian religion.

And then there are hundreds or thousands of different tribal religions by native African, native American, native south American, native Australian and some native Asian and native Pacific island tribes/peoples. Most of them believing somehow that the spirits of the ancestors are still around observing or influencing real life. Some of them - but not all - including magic and witch doctors.

And I’m sure there are several hundred other religions that I didn’t even mention that have their own ideas of life and the world.

The Jews have the same heaven and God but not the same view of Satan and hell as the Christians have. The Muslims also have God (They call him Allah, but that’s actually the Arabian word for God so it’d just a translation) and also a heaven, hell and Satan. To be exact, the Jews as well as the Muslims actually pray to the very same God that the Christians also pray to. It’s the God that Abraham worshiped. In all three religions. These three are basically different sects for the same God. Abrahamistic Monotheism.

Answer #19

Atheism means that you don’t believe in anything unless it is either obvious or scientifically proven. Atheists don’t thing that anything the elders tell or that anything that is written in ancient books is a valid source of knowledge. So they will - if they are told that there is a God who created the earth or a spirit of your grandma floating above the house - consider the thought, search for further prove or for anything that proves the contrary and if they don’t find it tell you that your believes are nonsense. Atheists believe in the principles of science. If anything.

Answer #20

Oh and, as a prime source about atheism, you may want to read the book “The God delusion” by Mr. Richard Dawkins. Who is both a scientist and a passionate atheist.

Answer #21

‘Atheism means that you don’t believe in anything unless it is obvious or scientifically proven’, uhm no, atheism is a lack of belief in deities. Buddhists are atheist. Yet they believe in elders wisdom and ancient books. And yes, I have read the God Delusion. I have a few quibbles about his arguments, but I enjoy his work very much. Also, if you talk about things being obvious, I think that’s where the world being flat came from. It looked flat, so obviously it was flat. I don’t think I’d use the word ‘obvious’ quite in parallel with scientific evidence. And I may be wrong, but I think Brendan is trying to point out that a bunch of lack of beliefs does not make a religion. In order to have a religion you generally have to have beliefs. For example, not believing in fairies, santa claus and the yeti does not make up a religion. And your lack of beliefs don’t make up a religion.

Answer #22

Well, I personally believe in the Bible but definitely not in life after death in heavens (I think we were created for earth not for heavens-Psalms 115:16),neither in a hell of fire after death for the wicked.I simple stick to Genesis 3:19:After death to dust we will return. But I do have a hope…

Answer #23

The world being flat was most likely a myth invented by the Rennaissance/Enlightenment people to be able tell everyone just how dumb the middle age people have been. There is written evidence of only very few people who did actually ever believed that. Most middle agers knew the world was round. Medieval maps showing a round world were mostly schematic spiritual politically influenced , and putting the pope of Rome in the middle of the world. Most people knew the world was round though. Because it’s obvious as soon as you sail the sea or climb a mountain.

Answer #24

atheists dont believe in any supreme power

Answer #25

Theism is not a religion and Atheism isn’t either. Atheism does not state what you believe in but what you don’t believe in. The A- and an- prefix means not so an “Atheist” is basically “not a theist”

Answer #26

Anyone who refers to atheism as a religion does not understand it. Theism is the belief in supernatural powers that have some or all of the following components: A power that created the universe, watches over us, rewards the pious, punishes the wicked, and provides for an afterlife (good or bad). The prefix “A” refers to the absence of something. So A-theism is the absence of belief in those supernatural powers.

Saying atheism is a religion is like saying baldness is a hair color…

Answer #27

Are you referring to Pantheism?

Answer #28

Its called an Athiest. But as for a religion iof some one does’nt believe in one than, i guess it can’t be called a religion. I hope and pray you will find God and His love. For He has it for you and all His people. Good luck with your search of whatever it is you are seeking Stephanie.

Answer #29

i believe in god and jesus and the devil and hell and heaven cause if u don’t u won’t have external life and u will burn in the lake of fire with the devil and u will be there forever and ever i feel so sorry for u renee i’ll pray for u okay baby see u later

Answer #30

Where’s your proof of all this existing ?

Answer #31

Any atheistic religions like Buddhism or Jainism won’t believe in heaven, god, devil, or hell.

Answer #32

Explication on the above:

For Judaism, the belief on Satan and hell is that it doesn’t exist. Jews do not believe in any sort of demons because to them, angels have no free will. There cannot, therefore, be bad angels. Their “hell” is called Gehenom. It is much more like the Catholics purgatory as its purpose is purification. Some souls are too evil to be granted Gehenom, and they are punished eternally by destruction. They do not sit in a firey pit or anything of the sort, they are removed from existence.

Answer #33

Thank you. That is very enlightening.

Answer #34

How can you believe in the Bible and not in life after death, heaven, or hell if they are mentioned throughout the Bible?

Answer #35

How can you believe in the Bible and not in life after death, heaven, or hell if all three are mentioned throughout the Bible?

Answer #36

Eclesiastes 9:5 written by king Solomon shows the opposite among many other examples i could mention.Do you mean there is a specific quotation that shows otherwise?Which

Answer #37

Exlesiastes 9:5 could have been relating to earth terms only, maybe? Whatever it meant, I don’t think it makes much sense to not believe in the life after death, heaven, and hell just because of ONE verse, and close yourself up to the MANY other verses that talk about these three things. Try reading 1 Corinthians 15:12-23, for example.
