Can they refuse to give you a tattoo if you're 'too skinny'?

I went to go and get a tattoo yesterday on my ribs and the tattoo guy refused to do it because he said I was too skinny and my bones stuck out too much and he said it would be too painful. Can he do that? Refuse to tattoo me for that reason?

Answer #1

They probably have the right to refuse anyone

Answer #2

They can refuse you for any reason they want.

Answer #3

Yes, they have the right to refuse service to anyone and their reasons are valid. Tattooing on top of bone is very painful and if they feel that your body cant handle it their doing their job by refusing you.

Answer #4

Especially if your ink job is a large image, sometimes your body mass isnt enough to handle the normal ammount of ink. Thats why some tattoos are done in sessions.

Answer #5

I’d assume they do have the right. Just like a hair dresser.

I can see it being fairly frustrating being told your too skinny for a tattoo. :/
