Who knows if the doctor will put me to sleep when i get my wisdom teeth taken out?

Answer #1

oh ok, ahh i’m freaking out, cause its gona hurt >.<

Answer #2

Yes, when I got mine out they put me to sleep, but I believe you can stay awake if you want to.

Answer #3

yupp! cause it is somewhat of a surgery… and unless you want to feel the pain, they put you to sleep… well at least i was! no woories tho… cause when you wake up… it’ll feel like you were just passed out for a minuite :P you’ll be light headed tho, so as said by xlostgirl815, you’ll need someone to drive you home!

Answer #4

Most of the time they give you an injection in your gums to numb it really good. (feels like a tiny pinch/sting) not bad at all. But I have heard that they can give you anesthesia, just depends on the place. Where I live, most of the time they won’t put you to sleep even if you request it. They defiantly won’t pull them without at least numbing them though. You’ll be fine, try not to worry about it too much. Good luck! =]

Answer #5

not necessarily…i got 3 of mine out the first dentist was a cheapo & didnt put enough in the injection to numb the place & when he tried to pull the first out he cracked it…what an ass….the second dentist was awesome, i felt a light sting but that was it & bam it was out! The third dentist I went to had magical hands…i got the injection…he was doing his thing while talking to me & said ok we are done…and i was like um, but i didnt feel anything…he smiled…and said glad to be of help! :P he was the best dentist ever!!!!

if the dentist knows what he is doing it should hurt & you shouldnt feel a thing…if he is an ass, and is a cheapo & is very aggressive, then you might feel a little…but not enough to make you go nutz out of worrying like this…just calm down, try to relax and close your eyes…picture yourself on a white sandy beach by the ocean…see, no need to freak out about anything just count to 10 deep breathes & your done!

Answer #6

Answer #7

Answer #8

Answer #9

im getting 4 taken out i hope i live too lol

Answer #10

not necessarily. You have three basic options. The first is local anaethetic only. The second is local with IV sedation. Bascially, the give you anti-anxiety meds directly into your cephalic vein (in your forearm, or hand) which doesnt do anything for the pain (thats what the local is for) but it makes you not care. The third is with a general anaethetic which costs the most as its under surgical conditions and you need to pay for the anaethetist. Sometimes it is necessary to have a general, depending on the condition of the teeth that are going to be removed.

Answer #11

Answer #15

I was never given an option. They nummed me up, then yanked it out! And yes I did feel a LOT of pressure!

Answer #16

They put me to sleep when they took mine out but mine were inpacted so they i guess had to put me asleep. They should put who asleep because it is an oral surgey.

Answer #17

I answered this question already but my answer isn’t here anymore, neither are my reply’s, why?

Answer #18

Adding to Danniel’s excellent answer.

In addition to general anesthetic being the most expensive it is also more dangerous. In fact for most surgery the highest danger comes from the general anesthetic rather than the surgery itself. For GA you have to be intubated because you will not be able to breath on your own and there is some risk of complications and even death. Of course for young healthy people this risk is small but should be considered.

Is the local anesthetic with IV sedation the same thing dentists call “twilight sleep?”

Answer #19
