Yes you can play ANY sony Playstation brand game on the PS3 just as you could play PS1 games on the PS2 but you could play (if you are lucky enough to have had one) both PS1,2 & you could even download off from the Playstation Network certain games but you have to have a Credit card and or permission from your parents to mail in however much it would cost. I was given one myself for Christmas last year so I know

The PS3 has limited backwards compatibility, so you should be able to play at least MOST of your PS2 games on it.
