When should I get my prostate exam?

Answer #1

That’s a very important question. Most doctors will recommend that you start getting regular (yearly) prostate exams at the age of 50, but if you are in a group of higher risk (you have family members who have suffered prostate cancer) then you should start by the age of 45.

Answer #2

The American Cancer Society recommends that most men have annual digital prostate exams and blood tests for PSA starting at age 50. Those at higher risk like men who have immediate family members who have had prostate cancer and African Americans are advised to start getting annual exams at 45.
