It depends what context it’s used in. If you were to write: ‘My mother grew a banana tree. Because she likes monkeys.’ That would be wrong, But you can start a sentence with ‘because’ like this: ‘Because of the recent thunderstorms in our area, my mother’s banana tree died.’
